iona's blog

It's a journal. It's a devotional. It's a record of a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) survivor. It's documentation of God's activities in real time. There are good days and bad, happy times and sad... I tell it like it is. This is an unscripted walk along the meandering paths of my mind. My life has never been dull... and I've never known boredom. Read on, you'll see...

Who's Your Hero?

I had a great Sunday. Church is always a blessing, and I am enjoying New Community for many reasons. It is so good to be finally able to sing and not cough my guts out. Pardon the graphic terminology, but that's exactly what it felt like.

Richard was home from work early in the afternoon and it was good to just hang out and do nothing together. I am not especially good at doing nothing, so it wasn't long before we were trying to clip Baby Snooks' toe nails. Being a bulldog, she's a bit stubborn about getting her nails clipped and she jerked around enough that we ended up getting two of the nails cut too short, so she bled. Off course, she is a master of sending us on guilt trips. We may take her to a groomer next time.

After the nail cutting and blood letting, I decided Richard's idea of doing nothing was a pretty good one. That lasted all of 30 minutes because doing nothing really is a drag. After all, God gave us time and it's a precious commodity. So we decided to do our Bible study. We finished the last four chapters of Revelations. Yay! We've been going through the Bible together, and now we'll go back and start over. Last time, we began with John, then Romans, then the other Gospels, etc. skipping here and there until we read it all. Next time, we'll start with Genesis and go in order.

Wonder of wonder, Richard has moved into a MySpace place. If you know him personally, you know just how unlikely that is. But he was drawn in by the fact that some of our kids and grandkids are on MySpace. I was tickled he did that and now hope he'll blog, which of course he won't.

I was especially thrilled when I read his profile and saw he had listed me as one of his heroes. Yep, there I was, right there between Jesus and Mickey Mouse! I asked if he was joking and he said no. Well, I guess you could do worse than having Mickey as a hero. I was deeply honored he listed me, although I've never felt particularly heroic. It really blessed my day!

Now I'll Leave you with something wonderful... Every American should see this and I hope you take the time to watch all of it (it's not long, but it IS good!) http://www.youtube.com/v/ervaMPt4Ha0&autoplay=1
