Exciting Times
Wednesday 11/5: I am pleasantly tired tonight. We cleaned carpets yesterday and the day before, and I was up most of the night watching election news. In the midst of it all we went to Tampa and overindulged at the Fresh Harvest cafe yesterday after voting.
We had no lines at our polling place and the election workers were friendly and efficient. We had researched each candidate and all the propositions, marking our choices on the sample ballots, so we were in and out in a matter of minutes.
The two most important issues for us were the presidential election and Proposition 2, the Marriage Protection Amendment. Although it required 60% or more to pass, the proposition made it just fine, but our presidential favorite, John McCain was defeated by Senator Barak Obama.
I opposed Obama over his pro-abortion stance, socialism, secular humanism and disrespect of our nation's heritage, flag, anthem, and Pledge of Allegiance, but I was pleased to see a black person elected to our nation's highest office. So, this afternoon I was disappointed to see such a shallow evaluation of anti-Obama sentiment among evangelical Christians, calling it a racial issue. Clearly, the press has no concept of the mind of Christ. Well, that's no surprise. The unsaved are all in that sinking boat.
Mr. Obama would not be the president elect of the United States if God had not allowed or caused it to be. For whatever reason, this man who has so little respect for or understanding of God and his Word (which he made sarcastic remarks about) has been installed by God in a role of national leadership.
We, as the body of believers have a God mandated obligation to respect the office and the man filling it so long as that duty does not fly in the face of God's instructions to us in His Word and by His spirit.
So, now we have a body of work to do, and believers may be the only ones who can accomplish it.
1.) First and foremost, we must pray!
2.) Next, we must stand ready to fight to preserve the values and traditions upon which America was founded.
3.) We must continue to be active in politics and governmental affairs.
4.) We must be about public affairs in a Christ-like way.
5.) We must keep track of political performance and respond via the "system" to correct wrongs where ever we find them.
6. ) Then we must pray some more. Let the heavens hear and be moved.
All said and done, we are living in exciting Times!

I disagree. I do not believe God placed Obama in leadership. I believe it was the church who failed. The church failed to value life over a tax refund. It failed to respect marriage over promised hand outs.
It failed to vote the heart of God.
God did not make it happen. However, due to His faithful promise to give man freewill, He allowed us to choose it. His first choice is always life. Unfortunately, in this election neither He nor life was the first choice of the church.
