iona's blog

It's a journal. It's a devotional. It's a record of a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) survivor. It's documentation of God's activities in real time. There are good days and bad, happy times and sad... I tell it like it is. This is an unscripted walk along the meandering paths of my mind. My life has never been dull... and I've never known boredom. Read on, you'll see...

I am a happily married mother and grandmother of a large family. I've also had several careers including writer, teacher, trucker, investment and finance advisor, web master and artist. I am an ordained minister (I feel called to people, not to the pulpit) and consider my calling to Christ's service my most important role in life.

MLK Day

It has been a wonderful Sunday. I commented to Richard the afternoon on how great church services were this morning, saying it has been one of the best yet. His reply, "Every Sunday, you say it was one of the best ever." Hmmm. Yes, that's true, I do. And it is!

Also, two dear friends I love deeply were back in church after a time away. It meant a great deal to me to see them.

I had not been to bed last night so took a long nap this afternoon and somehow managed to forget that Martin Luther King, Jr. Day was tomorrow. I live in my own little bubble and never seem to operate at the same pace time does. So, when I woke up, I revised my MLK page at http://ionanet.com/press/cards/mlk.htm Hope you enjoy it:

We had a nice dinner of roast pork au jus with boiled potatoes, mixed veggies and biscuits, but no dessert. So now, my tummy feels cheated and I want something sweet. Problem is, I have gained back some of the hard-lost weight it took me forever to lose. Why do we all care so much about weight, anyway? Those are the words of a woman about to cave in to temptation. But one of the fruits of the Spirit is Self Control, so instead of grabbing a cookie, I will refocus on the Lord and read my Sign Language assignment.
