Torn and tattered, burned and scorned,
defiled and trampled, often shamefully worn,
Stained with the blood of those who dared,
our eternal standard for those who cared.

Across red beaches where our young were cast,
from ship to shore it was safely passed,
and proudly raised o'er sea and land,
it securely flies where our servicemen stand.

Salute it proudly, stand straight and tall,
pick it up if it starts to fall,
And hold it high above the din,
