when Our country called you went...

You served with honor

you served with dignity

You gave your hearts

you gave your health

you often gave your very lives

but When some of you came home...

you were met with indifference

you endured ridicule even infamy

you were jobless & few cared

your government seemed to forget you

...And some of you are on a wall

you are at last honored for your sacrifice

your names are still being added

your loved ones still grieve

and some of you are still "over there"

some alive and hurting so

some buried in unmarked & dishonored graves

The wasted years go slowly by

While our great nation does nothing for you

I hang my head in shame!
