December 7, 1941 More than 2,300 Americans were killed. Nineteen ships were damaged or sunk, and 188 planes were destroyed on the ground at nearby Wheeler Field. Canada declared war on Japan that same day, and the following day the United States also declared war, thus entering World War II. |
